The UPDATE below need to be ignore. As soon as we updated SFA Report for what we thought was an attempt by the site operators of the Business Bureau [BBB] consumer portal to re-published complaints previously miraculously disappeared website http://www.drivers-licenses.org, it appears that this was just another DECEPTIVE ACT by those operators.
The operators have edited, deleted and added comments to consumer complaints on the BBB site to portray drivers-licenses.org in a favorable light. THIS IS A SCAM OPERATION being perpetuated.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Update: scamFRAUDalert is please to provide this update regarding the Better and congratulate the BBB for taking swift action. It now appears that consumer complaints regarding Drivers-Licenses.org deleted have been reinstated.
scamFRAUDalert see it appropriate to issue this ALERT as Cambridge Media Series, LLC d/b/a http://www.Drivers-Licenses.org appears to be offering it’s services nationwide and claim not to be affiliated with any state or governmental agencies. This is a paid for service site.
The site claim to be a comprehensive resource for drivers. However, the Better Business Bureau have expressed concerns and indicated that the site owner(s) have shown an unwillingness to work with them to resolve consumers complaints.
The complaint history focus on deception and misrepresentation. Services they claimed to provide are links to your local DMV offices for a fee which can easily be found online by doing a google search for your local DMV.
The site owners also purchased Google and Yahoo Ads to increase it’s visibility to the public on search results thereby enticing the public to click on one of these search results that showed up above the normal searches.
Yes, it’s a scam. There is no logical reason for anyone to create a website with a dot org address and make it look like a state run driver license site. They can dispute it all they want. IT IS A SCAM AND SHOULD BE CONSIDERED ILLEGAL!
Thank you for allowing us to post the truth. Go to your bank and insist upon filing a fraud alert and demand your bank overturn the charges and issue you a refund. Have nothing more to do with the site and please do not contact the site’s phone number for you will never receive any sort of refund from these scam artists.
Fight back with the help of your banking institution only. Your bank wants to shut down this site as much as we all do. File an official fraud alert with your bank card issuer. And change your bank card with your bank as well, so this site no longer has your card information.
I have to add my experience to the many above. The Yahoo add was convincing with DMV in the title; but I usually look past that to the real address, which in this case was also convincing, LouisianaDriversLicense.org. The page itself looked much like the real DMV page I had used a year or so ago, so I opened it, clicked on Titles and saw no red flag as I agreed to simple questions. I put in all my details because I wanted THEM to think I was legitimate. When it came to how will you pay, I gladly put in my cc number, thinking I would get a new title sent to me. After clicking on send for my cc number, the next window said, “You can’t get a Title online, you will be sent an email with your State Information and the location of nearest DMV.” The window just as well should have said, “Got Ya ! We are not a gov’t site. Go to the REAL DMV online for your Title!”
These people go to a lot of trouble to get an official sounding site name and official looking ad, to make the site look official. The images, the questions on the pages, quickly win your confidence just before asking for your credit card number. I suggest the state fine them and prevent them from operating their site.
Comment: I Googled Nebraska DMV and this website came to the top and so I used it thinking I was replacing my lost driver’s license. Instead of paying for a new license, I later realized I had bought some garbage literature that was useless to me. What a scam this is. And there is no phone number so I can call them to cancel my “purchase.” Which indicates they know they are scamming people.
This somehow needs to get more attention so that people don’t fall prey to this rip-off.
Thanks for listening.
Does anyone have the full address of “WashingtonDriversLicenses.org”? The BBB needs all that info to file a complaint. At first I was going to let it go but, I had to cancel my debit card for fear that I would get charged for anything else. I am thoroughly irritated! Please help.
As of December 19, 2012, the BBB was notified that the company is no longer in our servicing area and to contact the BBB of Delaware for further assistance.
Prior to the move, the following is what the BBB of Southeast Florida and the Caribbean’s profile reflected on the business.
Our file contains a pattern of complaints from consumers who state they register with this company for their online auctions and in the process provide their credit card for billing information. Consumers state their cards are then charged $99 and the consumers state they were not aware of these charges or did they approve them. Consumers state these charges are not clearly explained on their website.
The company responds to complaints by issuing a refund or an explanation of the terms of their online agreement.
Not a single good comment that should tell you the validity of this company. What a joke they are. I instantly canceled my card on them once the jig was up and realized this was a scam. Why is their website still able to operate? Preying on the already worried and frantic victim, no honor.
PS- your downloadable checklist pamphlet is laugh worthy.
Complaint: I received my notice to renew my drivers license this year from DMV and noted on the top it stated “SAVE TIME & DON’T WAIT IN LINE, RENEW YOUR LICENSE ONLINE EVERY OTHER TIME!” It referred me to the http://www.dmv.ri.gov web site. I opted for this and went on the website and followed the directions. I was prompted to the site, payment was requested, 14.99 and 1.99, a form was provided to fill out for the renewal. Then a guide for renewing drivers license was offered for printing. I did not print the guide as I did not need instruction as I have done it many times!! I printed out form for license and then I was advised that I needed to renew license in person, online is not allowed in RI.. I spoke to the women at AAA in Barrington Ri and she said she did not know why this is on the renewal form as other people have inquired about this and it is not possible. The charges to my account was listed as mydriverslicense.org 888-9446947 12/13/13 $14.99 and 12/10 $1.99. It also stated at end of transaction that I had road service for a period of time (can’t remember how much) for free!! Another product I do not need. My concern is why is DMV putting this on their form and how many people are doing this and wasting their money. I would like a refund and not sure how to contact the company. I hope you can help. Thank you
Desired Settlement: I would like a refund of $14.99 and $1.99 as I did not need to purchase this, I thought it was to renew my license. Also, I would like BBB to question DMV in regards to this false statement on the website and why they are allowing a private party to scam customers.??
Same thing happened to me. I thought I was paying to replace my stolen drivers license and instead got a useless checklist and some 30 day roadside assistance that I never wanted. Was charged $1.99 and now there is a pending $14.99. What the hell. My wallet was recently stolen, hence the need for a replacement drivers license, and I’m betting that this company preys on frantic, already stressed out people like me who just wants to get their ID replaced ASAP. Shame on me for clicking through all the way to the purchase and not realizing this is a scam site.
Sent them an email today for a refund and to cancel the pending transaction and stated that if I don’t receive a response from them in 5 business days, I’ll take further action as necessary. Might end up having to cancel the transactions via my credit card directly. We’ll see. Shame on them for misleading people. I wonder how many people actually benefit from what their purchases with them.
Fell for the scam, should of been more careful. Not long after doing this my email started getting all kinds of spam too. So in addition to being charge fraudulently on my credit card they have sold my information to a third party. I need to contact my DA to what can be done about this. I know it can’t be legal.
Marion. From WI I never received a renewal notice from the DMV. And my birthday is next week Wed. I heard that you can renew on line, but was also scammed and paid before I realized my mistake.
I don’t want or need a guide, or roadside assistance. Will call my credit card company and cancel that transaction.
Then learned also that I cannot renew on line if my license is due in 30 days or less. What a mess. I am so tired of this D scamming.
Exact same thing happened to me. Wanted to get my license renewed online, directed to that site. Got charged 1.99. Called my bank and cancelled my debit card, which is an inconvenience but better be safe than sorry!
As soon as I realized I’d been “had” ( which wasn’t soon enough, as I already entered my cc info), I called the 888 telephone number on the site. At first, the number rang to a disconnected message, and I found another number via Google to call. Supposedly, my transaction was cancelled. I called my cc company anyway and requested a new credit card. In my haste to renew my license, I failed to carefully navigate and realize this site is a scam. As another complainant mentioned above, this is what this “company” banks on. Karma on the rocks is coming for the people running this site.
Fell for this scam as well, you think your getting your drivers license address changed but in reality your just putting $16.95 into Todds pocket. Eventually the Karma wheel will spin back around to Todd and he will probably end up in prison. Todd will be guily of the greatest crime a human being can committ, a wasted life.
I wanted to change my address, end up paying $16.99 for some useless guide.
I thought it’s an Official DMV website. And yes, the website owner mean to make it looks like a DMV website. So there will be more ppl fell into his trap. He’s gonna pay for it one day.
Additional Notes
Complaint Category: Advertisement misrepresented a service
Complaint: Website misdirects people to think they can renew drivers’ licenses online.
This website is designed to lead people to believe that they can renew a driver license through them. The actual service just provides links to dmv.
http://drivers-lic/enses.org/
This website has advertising that purposefully misleads people into thinking they can get their driver license renewed/address updated through them. You follow the instructions and enter your credit card info and then it gives you links to the real government run dmv websites after paying them, claiming that the service is to show you what DMV website to visit so that you can actually renew your driver license.
Problem Date: 9/11/2013
Purchase Date: 9/11/2013
Order number: no order number was given by the website.
Account number: no account number was given by the website.
Sales rep: http://drivers-licenses.org/
paymount amount: around 17-18 dollars, the website does not allow me to see how much money I gave them once the transaction is processed. No receipt was given.
Payment method: Debit card.
I realized after the payment was made that the website was not intended to renew my license, however; there was no way to stop the payment and no receipt or transaction ID was given.
This site is setup for any state, and is a total scam. There is no doubt they’re trying to make you believe it’s an official state website, even though they do say they’re not if you read closely enough. Why are they allowed to use ORG also?? And more importantly, why does Google allow this?
Deceptive. I thought I was paying for a GA driver’s license renewal, and paid for a worthless Guide.
Just happened to me too here in Georgia, had to cancel my debit card…the does the DMV know about this?
I think only the better business bureau knows. Because this company is so deceptive to begin with, I doubt our cc numbers are safe with them.
Just took my husband in. Going to try and get our money back. 1.99 then 14.99 two days later. Geez. Now I wonder if we need to cancel that card. Anyone have a tip on that?
Same thing happened to me. I am usually careful not to get scammed, but these guys do a good job making their fake site look official.
Drivers-licenses.org is a well designed scam site.
Same thing happened to me. I wanted to do a change of address on my license and clicked on http://www.marylanddriverslicense.org, which came up when I searched “change of address MVA” on Google. I thought I was on Maryland’s DMV website, looked official when I clicked on it. I clicked on online application/checklist on the sight I was on and wound up on drivers-licenses-org and didn’t realize it until I wound up paying $14+ for an online checklist.
I just assumed Maryland started charging you for a change of address, since they tax and fee you to death for everything else.
It’s my own fault for not paying close enough attention, but that’s clearly what these clowns are banking on. Very deceptive and sneaky.
Same thing happened to me. I sent them this email – “I didn’t intend to buy anything from you. I was trying to do a simple change of address with the NJ DMV. I don’t need a “guide” to do this. Please refund my money!”
They responded immediatly by phone and email saying I would recieve a refund within 5-7 business days. I’ll believe it when I see it….
I too just accidentally typed in my info thinking this was the DMV– luckily I realized something was up before paying for it. Still, they have my info and this could be a perfect identity stealing scam. When I called the number, I got only a fast busy. This is very frightening.
Report it to the Better Business Bureau online like I did. They’re keeping track of complaints. Also, I got a refund after opening a complaint and asking for one from the Better Business Bureau. bbb.org.
I was scammed too – PA. I went to the credit card company to get my money back.
I just got scammed too…..same exact story as Kelly Abbott above. Did anyone get their money refunded? Or were you able to get your bank to refund it based on it being a scam? I’m with Wells Fargo….hoping they will work with me. Thanks!
We apologize for the issue you’ve encountered, please contact us at 1-888-242-8785 or at info@drivers-licenses.org and we’ll make sure the refund gets processed. We do offer 100% money back guarantee.
They did the same for me – saying they were Washington State Drivers license renewal and even giving a page that you click on that says – Renew your drivers license then taking your personal info –
Like you are renewing your license then charging you $14 for a guide you down load that is not what the site was purporting you would get up to the point – it was acting like it was drivers license renewal.
Very scary as they got my bank card number and scammed me for $14. Obviously it is an underhanded site and a fraud site or it wouldn’t have intentionally mislead and said “Renew your drivers license now” then asks for your info.
I’m reporting them to the Better business buero and Yahoo, who let them be at the top of the page for drivers license renewal.
They don’t actually accept scam sites to you have to report them.
BEWARE EVERYONE.
This sounds about right—-the same thing happened to me in NY. I went to renew my license online and these guys ended up with my money as well. First a $1.99 charge, then $12.71. There wasn’t even a final “submit payment/order” page. I realized that this wasn’t the right website and clicked out of it before clicking on the submit payment page (which doesn’t exist!) Nice scam they have running here. After reading the above comments I can see that I’m not alone. I am going through my bank to stop payment, then better business bureau to report this company.
Please be advised that I am responding on behalf of Drivers-licenses.org.
This website looks official enough that it fooled me into thinking I was on the TEXAS DMV website. In TEXAS at least you can change your address online, which I have done several times over the years. After my account had been debited $14.70
I realized what had happened (I was debited before my “transaction” had even completed by the way) and sent an email to the company. They advertise a 100% money-back guarantee, which they reiterated in their auto-generated reply to my email. A link was also included in the email to request a refund.
However, when I went to the website to process my refund, I got a message stating that my “request was denied.” No reason given. So in essence, they have probably satisfied the loose letter of the law by stating they will give refunds, even if they don’t.
I WILL get my money back. Its the principle of the thing.
