File a police report stating what had happened. And then Inform your bank what happened so in that way they will not think that you are part of the scam. I did all of those and I am still waiting for paypal to reply with regards to what happened. Please let me know when you have resolved yours as I will inform you as well what I did to resolve it as soon as I do. Hopefully… Are you from the Philippines?

I was scammed. -$3,700 on my Paypal account. They contacted me thru oDesk. I got the money and sent it to Russia. Now all of my 3 Paypal accounts blocked. I called Paypal and all they said that its my responsibility and that they cant do anything about it. What did you guys do? Please let me know so that I can do them too.

  3. russel says:

That’s my question as well. i was scammed too. And I also have a negative balance on my paypal account. What did you guys do? What will happened to us? I already reported this to the local authorities and informed them what happened and my bank too.

  4. ann says:

I have the same problem here. I’ve got a negative balance of almost $2,000 in my Paypal account. I’m just wondering is the supposed buyer/client innocent or are they in on the scam as well?

  5. paulo says:

  6. arkangel says:

I likewise applied for this job in oDesk. I went through the same process – they sent me an application form, I filled it out and sent it back to him. He sent a contract immediately right after for me to sign and send back via email. That’s when I realized that this thing is too good to be true. I checked out scam warning websites and found that people asking anyone to transfer money for a commission are outright SCAMS!

Another thing that wasn’t quite right was the fact that when you go their website, it’s basically empty – the website shows very general information that makes one think about what do they really offer.

I was just amazed at what these scammers would do just to make them look believable – they even have professional looking websites now!

What have I learned from all these? That nothing worthwhile comes easy, it may sound trite, but it is still very true. If it is too good to be true, then it ain’t real! 😉

Here is the Job Description that was sent to my other email account.

    SeV Co. Tel: (495) 970-37-46
    Int’l Customer Care: +1 347 441-0921 (USA)
    European Tel/Fax: 0871 528 8481 (UK)

    JOB DESCRIPTION
Position: Customer Manager Salary: 5% from transaction
SeV Company started its operations in 2008 with a staff of freelance amateurs. Having passed a long way since that time, the Company turned into a serious and professional one that has a large number of clients all over the world. SeV Company develops software applications, promotes trade companies at eBay and deals with free trade at eBay. Our specialists search for interesting items and sell them at different auctions, including eBay.
Most of our clients are from USA where the main payment system is PayPal. Moreover, PayPal is the major payment tool at eBay auction. And it is obvious, as according to various evaluations, PayPal market share within internet payments makes up to 18% around the world and up to 63% in USA.
For Paypal payments all clients are divided into three categories:
    1. Countries where PayPal users can pay for and get the payment for the goods and services (www.paypal.com/worldwide/ – “Send. Receive. Withdraw.”)
    2. Countries, where the users can pay for goods and services, but have no opportunity to receive the payments (www.paypal.com/worldwide/ – “Send Money to Anyone in the Growing PayPal Network”).
    3. Countries where PayPal is not represented.
Unfortunately, Russia is a part of the second category, where the users only have an opportunity to pay for something, but not to get the payment, which makes it much more difficult to maintain business in Europe and USA. We cannot reject the clients from these countries. Having had negotiations with Finance Analysts and Lawyers, we have found a way out – to hire an Account Manager to work with clients from the first category, where the users can both pay for goods and services and get the PayPal payments. The Manager will be a connecting link between the Company and the Client. The scheme of work with participation of Manager consists of 3 people:
    1. The Company (SeV Co.)
    2. The Client, who is about to buy goods or services from the Company
    3. The Account Manager, hired by the Company
    and looks like following:
    1. The Client, willing to pay through PayPal, purchases service or goods from the Company
    2. The Client receives the service or goods and transfers the payment for the purchase to the Manager’s PayPal account
    3. Account Manager withdraws the money from PayPal system, gets 5% from the received sum of money, and sends the rest to the Company.
This letter is an official job offer for the Account Manager Position.
    Requirements:
    1. Fluent English – both spoken and written
    2. Verified PayPal account
    3. 18 + years old
    4. 1-2 hours a day, excluding weekends
    5. The candidate has to be a resident of the country that is represented in the list “Send. Receive. Withdraw” at http://www.paypal.com/worldwide/

    We offer:
    1. Stable work with a long-term prospect, while, according to the analytical reports, PayPal is not going to represent the service of receiving payments in Russia in the nearest future, therefore, we are interested in a long-term employment
    2. Additional income that does not require much time – all the job comes to the following actions: receiving of money transfer – withdrawing it from PayPal system – taking 5% commissions – transferring the rest 95% to the Company. The Manager will get 1-3 transfers per week, $1000 – $5000 each (sometimes more), so that in case of 2 transfers per week $1000 each, the Manager earns $100, spending approximately 2-4 hours a week.
    3. Bonuses for every $10000, which makes up $200.
    4. Trainings – before the start of the work and in the process you will be given all instructions, you will also be able to ask all the questions.
IMPORTANT: We will never ask you to send us money beforehand! We will not ask for money for hiring you or training. Employee does not have to pay from hisher own money. It is a real job, with real goals and tasks.
    Frequently asked questions:
    1. Why the Company cannot receive PayPal payment themselves?
Russia is a country, where the PayPal users can ONLY pay through Paypal, but cannot receive the payments.
    2. Why the Company is ready to entrust rather large amounts of money to an unknown person?
In the process of hiring, the Manager will have to sign an agreement, designed by professional lawyers and corresponding to international laws and norms of international business. The given agreement will let both Parties defend their rights in case of unfair behavior of any of the Parties. Therefore, we can be confident about our finance security.
    3. What are the guarantees that I will receive my 5% commission?
First of all, prior to the work starts, the Manager and the Company will sign an agreement, securing the rights of both Parties.
Secondly, if one pays attention to the details of the scheme, one will see that the Manager gets the money on his/her Papal account, then withdraws it and takes 5% of the sum and ONLY after that transfers the rest 95% to the Company. So the Manager gets his/her 5% guaranteed.
    4. After signing an agreement, will I be hired by the oDesk.com?
No, you won’t. oDesk does not grant the necessary tools for such scheme of work.
    5. Who will pay for PayPal and bank commissions?
All the commissions connected to receiving, withdrawing or sending the money are paid by the Company.
For example, the Client sends $2000 to the Manager’s PayPal account, PayPal keeps back its commission of around $70 from this sum, than the Manager withdraws money from PayPa system*, takes 5% which equals to $100, sends rest of the money to the Company (which will be charged by the bank at around $50). So the Manager has to send to the Company $2000 – $70 – $100 – $50 = $1780.
*Depending on the country, PayPal can also charge commission for converting dollars into the local currency, in this case the commission is also paid by the Company, and is kept back from the sum sent to the Company.
    6. Sounds interesting, but why are you ready to pay 5% for such an easy work?
It is not an easy work. This work requires attentiveness, accuracy and honesty.
If you are interested in this opportunity, please, fill in the Application form, attached to this letter.
If this job is not interesting for you, please, let us know, and we will search for another candidate.

Good Day. I have been contacted with Vadim Ramp through my email since he had entered and posted a job at http://www.odesk.com. I can see that this is a verfied scam report because I can that all the said information here are true. He sent me an application form and job description as Customer Manager with huge compensation. I was asked to verify the Paypal Account I have, will wire the money and send it back to the company name Sev-co. I have filled out the application form with my personal details, and I have sent it through Vadims email account. Lucky enough I told him that this would take seven to ten banking days to verify the account because was having a second thought that this was a SCAM. He told me to update him when the account was already verified. He is still expecting for my reply. Please let me know what would I reply to him.
