On May 10th, 2010 I received a cashiers check in the amount of US$997.76 from Crestwood Marketing a company based in Canada: 6754 Barton street, Pickering, ON L2V 2A7. I called the company as per instructed, to contact a Ms. Debra Hayes, a Claims Agent at 1-905-598-6708. I called several times but could not reach her. The letter I received along with the check, was an “Awards Claim Notification” in which I was to receive a future prize in the amount of US $9,000.00 as part of a Consumer Rewards Program winning. The Promotions Manager is one, a Mr. Robert Crest. Now, I must admit that I regularly enter sweepstakes online and have recieved rewards winnings of cruises worth a particular amount; however, I never received a cash reward, with the exception of the recent issue at hand. I took the check to a neighborhood check Cashing location that has an account under my name, the clerk after scanning the check, did not indicate that the check was fraudulant; however, directed me to deposit the check in a bank and wait for it to be cleared. I donot know what to do at this point and time. If the Company and the check is ligitimate, then alls well that ends well; however, if not, I donot want to be arrested and charged with passing a fraudulant check. In these economic turbulant times, the monetary winnings will definately help me and my family; however, I donot know what to do or what is the appropiate actions to undertake, so I am filing this report with the hopes of adjudicating this matter as soon as it is deemed possible.
